Air India allows passengers to fly from nearby airports with Chennai ticket

Mumbai/New Delhi:  To extend some comfort to passengers stuck in Chennai floods, Air India said it will allow passengers with confirmed tickets to fly from any of the nearby cities without any additional charge.

“Air India will honour and accept Air India tickets issued by AI, travel agent or portal, from/to Chennai for travel from/to nearest airport like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Vishakhapatnam, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Kochi, Vijayawada and Tirupati till December 15th, 2015, without any additional charge. No cancellation/refund charges will be levied on Air India tickets for travel to/from Chennai till 15th December, 2015,” an Air India spokesperson said.

Air India’s special flight from Hyderabad to Arrakonam is now ready for take off.

The flight was initially expected to depart at 3.30 pm. It is expected to ferry 120 passengers from Chennai

Meanwhile, all other airlines have announced free cancellation for tickets booked to and from Chennai between December 1 and 8.

“Jet Airways guests with confirmed tickets to and from Chennai between December 1 and 8, 2015 will be allowed full refund or complimentary change of booking to alternative dates, depending on seat availability,” a Jet Airways spokesperson said.
